The Dr. Jan Whitman Memorial Fund

The Dr. Jan Whitman Memorial Fund exists to support clients of Animal Medical Clinic who are in need of some financial assistance to afford necessary care for their pets.

In 1996, a close family friend of Dr. Jan Whitman expressed interest in starting a memorial fund at Animal Medical Clinic in honor of his late father, John Viktora. John had a deep love and care for animals. He was a farmer in South Dakota that believed in caring for all his animals throughout their whole lives and being true to them to the end. The fund has been known as the John Viktora Fund at Animal Medical Clinic and has helped numerous clients afford care for their beloved pets. The fund was important to Dr. Whitman, who was known for going the extra step to ensure patients and their owners always received the best care and were treated with dignity, love, and respect.

The John Viktora Fund was renamed The Dr. Jan Whitman Memorial Fund in 2024 by the Viktora family as well as the veterinarians and staff at Animal Medical Clinic to honor the memory and significance of Dr. Whitman on Animal Medical Clinic’s patients, clients, staff, and local community.

Dr. Whitman was known for her generosity, kindness, compassion, and thoughtfulness. In 1983, Dr. Whitman joined Dr. Milton Crenshaw at Animal Medical Clinic. She was a leader at the practice for most of her career and became its owner in 2014. She truly embodied the clinic’s motto: “Let us treat your pet like family.”
